SAN FRANCISCO — Joseph Quinn, the head of Meyers Nave Riback Silver & Wilson's appellate practice, has moved to Hanson Bridgett in San Francisco.
Quinn, who had been at Oakland-based Meyers Nave for seven years, joined 150-lawyer Hanson Bridgett on Aug. 2. He was voted in as partner late last week.
A certified appellate specialist, Quinn has handled matters for the Santa Clara Valley Water District, the City of Stockton, the City of Oakland and the City and County of San Francisco.
Quinn said he had been looking for a San Francisco-based firm which would afford him the opportunity to broaden his practice to include private businesses as well as other public agencies. Hanson Bridgett has a number of lawyers with appellate experience, but none are certified. Quinn said the firm plans to develop an identifiable practice group with a specialization in appeals to complement its 60-lawyer litigation group.
Before entering private practice, Quinn had spent five years at the San Francisco city attorney's office, where he worked alongside Kimon Manolius, Hanson Bridgett's current litigation section chief.
Firm Managing Partner Andrew Giacomini and Manolius didn't return calls for comment.
Meyers Nave partner Julia Bond has replaced Quinn as chairwoman of the appellate practice. Jayne Williams, the firm's managing partner, said the transition was smooth. "The impact will not be felt by our clients," Williams said. "Of course, Joe is a very talented attorney and we're sorry to see him go and we wish him success at Hanson Bridgett."
San Francisco legal recruiter Avis Caravello brokered Quinn's move.
