"Two
years ago, if I had your résumé, I'd simply ask
you where you'd like to work and I'd get you that job tomorrow
with a signing bonus," says Avis Caravello of Avis
Caravello Attorney Search Consultants in San Francisco.
...
But making
that move isn't as easy as it was a few years ago. Firms that
were recruiting partners previously were willing to consider those
who billed at least $1 million annually. Since the financial meltdown,
lawyers have to bring as much as $2 million, Caravello says.
"It's
not just about being a great practitioner anymore," she says.
"It's about being a great practitioner and a great rainmaker."
...
"They're
getting laid off in droves," Caravello says. "There's
never been more outstanding corporate associate résumés
on the market than there is now."
